Anderson Esiti couldn’t celebrate his return to the senior national team of Nigeria with a win as his team PAOK crashed out of the UEFA Europa League despite beating Slovan Bratislava 3-2 in the qualifiers.
Esiti was handed a recall to the senior national team of Nigeria after a close to four years absence from the team with coach Gernot Rohr calling him up as replacement for the injured Wilfred Ndidi earlier today. His joy was however ruined by the Europa League exit, the team he joined in the summer suffered in the hands of Slovan Bratislava.
However his team crashed out of the Europa League on away goal as they were tied at 3-3 on aggregate and he lasted 63 minutes before he was substituted while Chuba Akpom was on for the entire duration of the game.
Rabiu Ibrahim however stole the show as he ran the midfield for Slovan Bratislava and even bagged an assist for the first goal of the game in the 38th minute to put his team a goal up. He was substituted in the 68th minute.
