The U23 team of Nigeria coached by Imama Amapakabo overturned the 0-1 defeat they suffered away against Sudan in style by winning 5-0 to qualify on a 5-1 aggregate score.

Taiwo Awoniyi set the Nigerians on their way to the big win with a headed goal after Sunusi Ibrahim shot was parried onto his path. It didn’t take long before Ndidfreke Effiong made it 2-0 to Nigeria with yet another headed goal.

Effiong grabbed his brace to effectively kill off any challenge from the Sudanese but the Nigerian team were not done as substitute Sunday Faleye scored with his first touch upon his introduction.

Faleye turned provided for Sunusi Ibrahim who finished his cross with conviction to seal a 5-0 win for Nigeria and also passage to the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
