Paderborn of Germany defender Jamilu Collins says he is a better defender now than he was last year before his team secured promotion to the German Bundesliga at the end of last season.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, the former Rijeka defender who has been at Paderborn for three seasons said the rise from the third division to the first division in three years has taught him several lessons which has made him better.
Now firmly established as the first choice left back of the Super Eagles since his debut for the team, Collins said the Bundesliga has taught him some lessons he didn’t learn while playing in the second division in Germany last season.
He said the pace and concentration required is very demanding but all that he has adapted to very quick and it has also helped his form for the senior national team of Nigeria especially in future games.
” The Bundesliga is different from the second division in several ways. You have to be ready to run at any moment and also be on alert to keep the attackers who you’re up against in check. I am still adjusting to the demands to be honest “, Collins told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” For me I have picked valuable lessons from the various levels I have played in Germany and it has helped in shaping me. In the Bundesliga it’s different and hopefully I will use what I have learnt here in international games for the good of the Super Eagles in our subsequent games”, he concluded.
