Aigbogun Reveals Failed Attempt To Lure Arsenal Rave Of The Moment Saka To Nigeria U20 Team Before WYC

Coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun has revealed that he tried to convince Arsenal rave of the moment Bukayo Saka to be a part of his team for the U20 World Youth Championship which took place in Poland.

Aigbogun team were beaten in the first knockout round of the tournament and the coach said while preparing for the game he watched Saka in action for the U18s of Arsenal and was keen on having him in his squad.

” Saka impressed me the day I watched him play and I contacted those close to him but back then he was focused on cementing his spot at Arsenal as he was already getting regular training time with the first team”, Aigbogun told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.

” His focus back then was on his club career, so the plan didn’t work but I’m happy to see that he is doing really well now with the first team. His decision has paid off and we can only wish him well”.

Speaking on if Nigeria should maintain the push to lure the talented forward who is already a youth international for England, the coach said he is in support of any move to have Saka play for the Super Eagles as he will make them a better team.

” That’s the way to go. You can’t just let England have him. I will gladly support any plan to have him play for the senior national team of Nigeria. He will add to the strength of the team”.
