Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong returned to the starting lineup for Italian Serie A side Udinese and proved his worth as they battle to earn a 0-0 draw away to Verona.
Ekong appears to have lost his starting spot after returning injured from the international break but yesterday when he was handed his first start following his full return to fitness he was about one of their best performance.
He was his usual self in aerial duels and also made so many good tackles and interception to keep Verona at bay, he also aided the team in attack by joining in set piece situation.
Since joining Udinese, the 26 year old has established himself as first choice in central defence and last season he only missed three league games. A sign of how well he adjusted to the Serie A following his transfer from Turkish side Bursaspor.
Presently he is the vice captain of the senior national team of Nigeria with Ahmed Musa stepping up into the role of captain following the international retirement of captain John Obi Mikel after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
