Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward Ahmed Musa has reacted to his omission from the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria for the upcoming friendly game against Brazil in Singapore next month, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Musa wasn’t listed by coach Gernot Rohr in the 23 man list that was released yesterday for the game, meaning he has now been omitted from two consecutive games since their campaign at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Reacting, Musa who took over as captain following the retirement of captain John Obi Mikel said he still remains the captain but injury has kept him out of the team, he however hope to be back soon.
” I am still the captain but not fully fit yet. Same injury that made me miss the Ukraine game is why I am not in the squad for Brazil. The boys selected by the coach will make us proud and hopefully I will join them in subsequent games “, Musa told Owngoalnigeria.com.
In his absence, the trio of Samuel Chukwueze, Samuel Kalu and Victor Osimhen have built a very good understanding in attacking with Kalu excelling on the left flank where Musa love to operate in the 2-2 draw against Ukraine.
