Former captain of the U20 team of Nigeria Ikouwem Udoh Utin is not having the best of time at Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, the team he joined in the summer from Nigeria Professional Football League side Enyimba.

Ikouwem is widely viewed as one of the most promising left full back in the NPFL before his move abroad but he has since struggled to replicate that form in Israel after a promising start at the club.

So far he has only played two minutes of league football with his only appearance this season coming in the 3-0 win over Maccabi Netanya, where he was introduced for his debut with two minutes left to play.

Prior to that game he was not in the squad for the previous four league games, a sign of how he has struggled to transform his performance in the NPFL and for the Nigeria U20 team to the Israeli league.

Already capped by Nigeria at senior level and also played for the B team at the Africa Nations Championship, Ikouwem will be hoping for more of the same performance like the one he put in when he made his debut for the team in the Europa League qualifiers where he played the entire duration of their 2-3 loss to NS Mura.
