Anthony Nwakaeme scored what could potentially be the goal of the season in Turkey with a well taken drive from outside the box to hand a convincing 4-1 win to Trabzonspor against ‎Besiktas.

Nwakaeme curled home a move from just outside the box for the fourth goal scored by his team to open his goal account for the season from the first six league games in Turkey.

Last season, the 30 year old who has one cap for Nigeria scored ten goals from 27 games for the Turkish side following his transfer from Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

Despite his impressive goal per game statistics considering that he doesn’t play as an out and out striker but instead on the wings, he feels that he is not getting called up to the Nigeria national team for reasons beyond football.

Speaking to Goalballlive, Nwakaeme said coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has something personal against him but insist that he will however honour any call up to the team.

“I don’t know what I did to Gernot Rohr. I don’t know what happened. If you ask me it’s not fair. But I’m not really bothered, I’m here in my club; If they call me I’ll be happy if they don’t I’ll be fine”, Nwakaeme said.

“I’m comfortable playing for my club, but, I will be up with my bags packed if I’m invited to the Eagles.”
