NFF Open Talks With Foreign Base Players Ahead Of U23 Africa Cup Of Nations

The Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has started talks with some foreign base players to liase with their team for them to be release for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations which serves as the qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics football event, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Nigeria is in the same group with Cote D’Ivoire, South Africa and Zambia ‎for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria happen to be the defending champion after their heroic at the last tournament in Senegal.

Ahead of the start of the tournament in November, the team has been far from convincing losing away to Libya and also Sudan before overturning the tie in the return leg on both occasion with the help of foreign based players.

The situation has made the NFF who are also unsure of the future of interim coach of the team Imama Amapakabo to hold talks with some clubs that Nigeria will likely invite their players for the tournament.

” We can’t afford to miss out on the Olympic in Tokyo. This team has done well with the inclusion of foreign base players and we won’t take any chance regarding their availability. As a body we have already commenced talks with some clubs”, a top official of the NFF told Owngoalnigeria.com.
