The assistant coach of the national team of Brazil Cleber Xavier believe the key to stopping Nigeria from wrecking havoc in attack lies in cutting off supply to the forwards notably top striker of the team Victor Osimhen, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Nigeria will take on Brazil in an international friendly tomorrow and the coach made it clear that why Nigeria will pose a different threat to the one they faced in the 1-1 draw against Senegal two days back, stopping Everton forward Alex Iwobi will be the key to keeping Nigeria in check.
According to Xavier Iwobi is the man who drag opponents out of position for the other players in attack to do damage as he plays more as the second striker of the team and not on the wings like he does in the Premier League.
“At Nigeria, Iwobi plays more of an inside role as a second striker than at Everton,” Xavier told BBC Sport.
“He is the link in the counter-attack, drags opponents out of position and infiltrates well in the box.”
“Nigeria defend less than Senegal. The Senegalese are more about positioning with [Idrissa] Gueye marking strongly,” he added.
