Experienced Brazil defender Dani Alves has lifted the lid on why his team failed to beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Sunday friendly in Singapore, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Alves while speaking on the 1-1 draw praised the organization of the Nigerian team saying they made it hard for Brazil in the final third with their organization and their willingness to counter when the chance to do comes up.
” Nigeria have never been easy to play against because of how they are organized and that played a role in the draw. At the back they had numbers and we had to resort to lifting high ball which they also responded to”, Alves said.
The former Barcelona defender said it was difficult for the defender to join the team in attack despite loads of possession because Nigeria have pacy players who can catch you out with counter attack like what led to the first goal scored by Nigeria.
” They used a break to score the first goal in the first half, so we have to reorganize our strategy going forward because of the way they play on the counter. I couldn’t join the attack because I had a man on me and also have to keep my eyes on him”.
