Coach of the Nigeria U17 team Manu Garba has praised the goal scoring form of ABS teen forward Olakunle Olusegun after his brace for South Korea in their 4-2 friendly win.
The coach while speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com said Kunle is provoking memories of Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho while he was with them at U17 level in 2013 with the way he gets into goal scoring positions.
According to Garba, Kunle plays in same position like Iheanacho at U17 level which is the role just behind the main striker but mainly function as a false striker with smart positioning to finish off chances.
Kunle has scored five of the last seven goals of the team, a form the coach is hoping he will replicate when the 2019 U17 World Youth Championship gets underway in few days time.
” Kunle operates like Iheanacho back then. They are also similar when it comes to scoring of goals, because they both play behind the main striker but take positions that help them to finish off chances. Just like Iheanacho he can also pick a pass and score from range. The similarities are many but I prefer he works on himself to do better when the World Youth Championship starts”.
