Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro says Maduka Okoye has what is needed to be a top goalkeeper if he continue to work hard, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Okoye made his international bow for Nigeria in their 1-1 draw against Brazil coming on as a substitute for the injured Francis Uzoho and according to Babayaro he has one of the first demand to be a good goalkeeper.
” He’s a very big lad. Tall, huge and very athletic. Goalkeepers like that are very scarce to find. He has what it takes to be a good goalkeeper. Height is usually the first criteria and he is blessed with it. Hardwork should be next “, Babayaro told Owngoalnigeria.com.
Babayaro said although he wasn’t tested he loved the way he commanded his area when dealing with aerial balls and his ability to back out instructions after a save.
” He is yet to play a senior game for his team in Germany, so the fact that he commanded his area particularly in aerial duels shows how well he is learning. I love how he was ordering the defenders out after a routine save. Looks like a cultured goalkeeper in the making “.
