Fresh from posting a man of the match performance against Brazil, Leganes defender Chidozie Awaziem says the Nigerian national team has made him a better player and it has also affected his club career positively.
Awaziem was by far one of the best players on the pitch for Nigeria in the 1-1 draw against Brazil as he made sure he kept his men in check despite playing as a right fullback as opposed to his preferred position as a centre defender.
According to the former Porto youth team prospect, the Nigeria national team has players who have achieved so much in their career and that has motivated him to work hard to get to their level.
” Playing for Nigeria helped my confidence a lot because I started playing with the team when I was still with the B team of Porto. When I moved to Nantes on loan I wasn’t worried because I have trained and played alongside players who have achieved a lot in their careers in the senior national team of Nigeria “, Awaziem told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” That confidence from the national team helped me to pull myself together for the task of playing in a top league and from that day my career has not been the same. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches and even the fans”.
