Coach of the U17 team of Nigeria Manu Garba says his team will play an entertaining brand of football when they get their campaign at the 2019 U17 World Youth Championship underway in Brazil against Honduras on Saturday.
The team lost their last warm up game against Japan 1-0 but the coach is confident of a good showing at the tournament as errors noticed in the team will be corrected before the game on Saturday.
Defeat to Japan means they have won only one of their last four game, which was the 4-2 win over South Korea with their other losses coming against Senegal at the Turkey invitational tournament and against Sao Paulo U17 last week.
Manu is however optimistic that his team won’t be push overs at the tournament when they begin the defence of the title Nigeria won in 2015 but failed to qualify for the 2017 edition of the Championship.
” Many times it’s good to lose in friendly games and correct your flaws during the tournament‎ proper. That said no team approaches any game with the intention of losing, so we will look at the causes and address the areas that led to it”, Manu Garba told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” We know we still have work to do in defence and in attack. Hopefully we will sort it out before our first game. My team will entertain in Brazil. That I can guarantee. Our brand of football will excite Nigerians “, the coach concluded.
