Joe Aribo has had a near perfect start to his international career with the senior national team of Nigeria with two goals in his first two games for the team against Ukraine and Brazil respectively in international friendly games.

The Rangers midfielder who is in line for his first competitive set of games for Nigeria against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively in the AFCON 2020 Qualifiers next month has no doubt won over the fans of the national team of Nigeria.

His performance has made people to compare him to former captain of the team John Obi Mikel who quit the team after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where they finished 3rd following a 1-0 win over Tunisia in the losers final.

However coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr believe Aribo is a lot different from the former number ten of the team but has qualities which has helped the team since his debut : “He’s different from Mikel. For now he doesn’t have the experience that Mikel adds to the team but he will get there”, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Aribo has added his quality to our team and we are happy with his performance. Mikel served Nigeria very well and remains a legend with the team, Aribo will hopefully get there as well. On the pitch they are both midfielders but with different style of play”.
