Arsenal teen ace Malcolm Ebiowei was one of the players who failed to make the final 21 list of the Nigeria U17 team for the World Youth Championship in Brazil which will commence next week.
Ebiowei made the list of 30 players for the final camping in Brazil but failed to play in any of the test games the team played before the final list of 21 players was made public by coach of the name Manu Garba.
The left footed midfielder impressed upon his arrival at the camp of the team in Nigeria and according to Garba dropping him from the final team wasn’t easy because he showed he has what it takes to be a top player in the future.
Garba however said the 16 year old who played for England at U16 level had a dipped in form which they believed was due to the weather in Nigeria as he struggled to adapt to it and also the physical demand of the team.
” He ( Malcolm) is a good player and uses both feet correctly. Very technical with an eye for a pass but the form he showed when he first arrived the camp of the team was not the same few weeks later. The weather affected him badly and also the way we play is very physical, something he isn’t used to in England. I still believe he will have a very big career. Personally dropping him was very difficult for me”, Garba told Owngoalnigeria.com.
