Ahead of Partizan Belgrade Europa League clash against Manchester United, former Nigeria U23 forward Sadiq Umar says a goal for him against the English giants could trigger an invitational to the senior national team of Nigeria.
The forward who finished as top scorer for the Nigeria team that won bronze at the 2016 Olympics in Rio is on a season long loan to the Serbian side for Roma and he has found his range in front of goal.
He has seven goals in ten games this season in all competitions and he opened his Europa League account with a brace against Astana in the last round of games. A goal against Manchester United on Thursday will catch the attention of the manager of the Super Eagles according to the lanky forward.
” It’s going to be a tough game as we will play against them in back to back games. I have never felt this fit in a while and hopefully a goal in either of the games or both games will make the coaches of the national team of Nigeria ‎look in my direction “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com jokingly on phone.
For now the forward said he is undecided over his next career move even though Partizan Beograd have the option of making his deal permanent at the end of his loan spell next summer.
” Nothing is certain yet. I just want to play and enjoy my game. The future will take care of itself in the summer. For now I am very happy here and hope to end the season on a high “.
