As the date for the start of the U17 World Youth Championship draws near, one name that has distinguished himself so far is ABS FC teen forward Olakunle Olusegun who has scored in all but one of the friendly games for Nigeria U17 ahead of the start of the tournament.

The forward has been the talisman for the team but he didn’t have the best of tournament at the Africa U17 Cup of Nations judging by how well he did at the WAFU U17 Championship where he finished as top scorer.

However he appears to be getting back to his best as the tournament draws near with his run in front of goal but the forward insist he isn’t carried away by it as replicating the form at the World Youth Championship is his aim.

” It’s good to score in friendly games but it’s nothing if you don’t score when it matters most. For now what matters most is the World Youth Championship and I hope to do well”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

He reckoned a strong showing will enhance his chances of moving to a top club but that isn’t his aim as he believe the collective goodness of the team is better than his personal ambition.

” I will like to finish as top scorer but that’s not a do or die thing. The aim is for the team to finish well and by the grace of God that will be our achievement. Any other personal glory is secondary “, he concluded.
