The good form of Nigeria international defender Semi Ajayi ‎has cost Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi his spot in the lineup of West Bromwich Albion this season, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Hegazi has been at the club for three seasons and last season made 40 appearances in their failed bid to gain promotion to the English Premier League but this season he is yet to play a game for the team who are now top of the League.

28 year old Hegazi has lost his spot in the team to new arrival Ajayi who was signed from relegated English Championship side Rotherham before the start of this season. So far the Nigerian hasn’t disappointed in the 13 games he has played this season. He has also found the back of the net twice.

His partnership with his fellow former Arsenal academy graduate Kyle Bartley at the heart of the defence has been largely praised as one of the most formidable in the division. A form that has also helped the 25 year old cement his spot in the senior national team of Nigeria.

Dropped from the team for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, he has played in the last two friendly games of the team with many praising his new found partnership with William Troost-Ekong as one of the reasons why the team avoided defeat against Ukraine and Brazil respectively.
