Villarreal are on the verge of pulling a sensational coup after agreeing a new deal with Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze to extend his stay at the club and also increse his buyout clause.

Chukwueze has agreed a new deal with the club for ten times what his wage use to be when he signed his last contract extension just before the start of last season with his current deal set to run till the summer of 2023.

The four year deal also saw his release clause rise from €65m to €100m and it’s the third time he will be experiencing a rise in his buyout clause in just 18 months. It was €25m when he made the step up to the first team last season.

Although this time around instead of the clause rising per season it will drop to €80m a year to the end of his new deal which is in the summer of 2021. Despite the drop he will still carry the tag of the most expensive Nigerian player if any club trigger his release clause.

A nominee for the Kopa Trophy, which is the award for the Best U21 player in the world, the 20 year old scored ten goals last season to announce his arrival in the Spanish top flight. A form he has maintained at the club this season.
