The goalkeeper coach of English Premier League side West Ham United Xavi Valero has advised coach of the Nigerian U-17 team Manu Garba to give Daniel Jinadu the U18 goalkeeper of the club the chance to be in goal against Hungary tomorrow.
Nigeria will take on Hungary in the first game of the tournament tomorrow and the game could see two West Ham United U18 goalkeeper come against each other if Jinadu gets the nod to start in goal for Nigeria.
He will be up against his teammate in Krisztian Hegyi who is expected to be in goal for Hungary in the group B clash. The prospect of both goalkeepers lining up at opposite ends has got Valero excited.
However Jinadu is not yet sure of starting for the Golden Eaglet of Nigeria with Oluwabusola Joseph and Sunday Stephen also pushing to start tomorrow. Valero said he however expect Jinadu to start in goal for Nigeria.
“Krisztian is the regular No1 for Hungary, and Daniel has been selected as one of three goalkeepers for Nigeria,” he observed. “I think Daniel has a chance to start for Nigeria, especially in the first game of the group against Hungary. That will be the Krisztian Hegyi vs Daniel Jinadu game and if that happens, it’ll be great news for the Academy and for the Club”, the coach said on the website of the club.
