Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has been drafted to the team by the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) to work as assistant to Imama but not directly on the bench.

Rohr is to advice the coach on technical issues, something Imama use to do as his assistant in the senior national team of Nigeria since the suspension of Salisu Yusuf following an allegation of bribe for spots while he was head of the CHAN team of Nigeria.

They are both expected to work together for the good of the team with the aim of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics their main target as it is the essence of the tournament. Nigeria are presently the defending champions and they will begin the defence of their title on the 9th of November against Ivory Coast.
