QPR midfielder Ebere Eze was widely expected to make the list of players for the senior national team of Nigeria for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers games against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively.
As reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, talks were held with the midfield maestro who is widely viewed as one of the best midfielders in the English Championship but he asked for more time before committing.
He doesn’t need his switch to be approved by FIFA despite representing England at U20 level as he only played in friendly games, Nigeria will however wait for him to make up his mind according to Gernot Rohr.
Rohr explained that he didn’t speak with Eze directly but his assistant Tunde Adelakun spoke with the mother of the 21 year old about committing his future to Nigeria but pressure apparently from England made him to shun the request for now.
” We have approached him but not directly. Tunde Adelakun, my assistant spoke to his mum. What we understand is that there is a lot of pressure on him and Eze doesn’t want to give an answer now”, he was quoted as saying by Osasu Obayiuwana.
” Obviously, we would love to have him in the Super Eagles, of course we continue to work on getting him. It may take some some time”,he concluded.
