The camp of the Super Eagles of Nigeria is yet to come alive two days to their first AFCON 2021 Qualifiers game against Benin Republic in Uyo, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
So far only two of the 23 players invited are in the camp of the team in Samuel Kalu and Kenneth Omeruo with others expected to join the team later today. Meaning the team will likely have just one training session before the game.
The timing of the game hasn’t gone down well with coach Gernot Rohr who tried to get CAF shift the game by a day to enable his team have at least two days training session but the Africa football governing body turned down the request.
Rohr is expecting all the invited players to arrive the camp latest this evening and they will train once tomorrow before playing against Benin Republic on Wednesday, they are expected to depart Nigeria on Friday for their next game against Lesotho.
Nigeria will be hoping to start on a positive note despite the above mentioned issue of lack of enough time for the team to practice ahead of the first game against Benin Republic.
