Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist Emmanuel Babayaro believe current Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa Isn’t the best goalkeeper in the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL).
Ezenwa was dropped as first choice of Heartland after his error in their opening league game against MFM FC cost his team all three points. Yesterday he wasn’t listed as they battle to a 1-1 draw away from home against Rivers United.
Heartland is the goalkeeper’s fourth club in four seasons and Babayaro who had three caps for the Super Eagles says his constant changing of clubs means he isn’t regarded as undisputed by any of the teams he has played for in the year under review.
” It’s plain to see that Ezenwa is not the best goalkeeper in the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) . Those who watch the league can testify to my statement. He use to be at a time but right now he isn’t if we want to be honest “, Babayaro told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” As much we don’t have very good amount of quality goalkeepers in the league, there are still some who can give the foreign based a run for their money. In three years Ezenwa still hasn’t made the position of first choice his own in the Super Eagles. It’s time to try another option “, Babayaro concluded.
