Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing has voiced his frustration after he was ignored by the coach of the Danish national team ‎for their upcoming international engagements against Gibraltar and Ireland in the qualifiers for UEFA Euros 2020.

Billing was called up to the squad for the last round of games but didn’t get to play which means he is still eligible for Nigeria. The country where his father hails from and he even confessed that he was approached by Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi.

Iwobi tried to convince Billing to switch allegiance to Nigeria but the midfielder who has been ever present for Bournemouth since his move from relegated Huddersfiled in the summer insisted on continuing his career with Denmark, where he has played at youth level.

Speaking after the lastest snub, he voiced his unhappiness at not getting picked while a player from the English Championship was selected by the same coach for the games. Something which he said has left him unhappy.

He told the Daily Echo: “I have to be careful because I made some comments before.

“He (Age Hareide) picks the squad. He has obviously picked a Championship player in front of me (Brentford’s uncapped Christian Norgaard), which if he thinks he is better then that is how it is. But I haven’t gone into it too much.

“I have days off now, so I will just enjoy them and chill and wish Denmark all the best.”
