One cap Nigeria international forward Josh Maja has popped up in the mind of coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr after his heroic for Bordeaux at the weekend where he scored his second goal of the season in their 1-1 draw against Reims.
Maja opened his goal account for the season in the 1-1 draw against Montpellier in September before scoring in a League Cup win over Dijon a month ago. The 20 year old is slowly finding his feet in France after a slow start following his move from Sunderland in January.
He had to wait for his time which finally came when Jimmy Briand the first choice striker of Bordeaux picked up an injury which will kept him out of the team for three weeks. Maja has not disappointed in his role.
Watched closely by the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr it is believed that the recent run of games that he has had the past few weeks has put him in the frame for a return to the senior national team of Nigeria.
Nigeria will regroup in March and Maja who made his debut as a substitute in their 2-2 draw against Ukraine could make the squad if he maintains his form in the second half of the season for Bordeaux.
