Kelechi Iheanacho has always been in the plans of Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers despite the limited game time he has suffered at the club this season, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Contrary to reports Rodgers want the forward to remain at the club beyond this season as he believe he will be pivotal in their quest to pick a spot in next season UEFA Champions League.
Rodgers has made it known to Iheanacho few days ago that he won’t be leaving the club in January as widely speculated and that was part of the reason why he was introduced as a second half substitute in the game against Everton, where ended scoring the winner after assisting Jamie Vardy for the leveler in the 2-1 win.
The win help them to consolidate their position as second in the league and once again confirmed Rodger’s trust in Iheanacho who was handed the man of the match award for his contribution in the game despite coming in as a substitute.
Iheanacho is viewed by Rodgers as the most composed among all the strikers in the team when it comes to finishing off moves in the box and in subsequent games like the one against Everton, the coach won’t hesitate to call on him when all fails.
