25 year old Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu ended his barren spell in front of goal with a goal for Genk in their 4-0 win over Belgium side Waasland-Beveren in the Belgium top flight, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Onuachu scored in 26th minute to put his side two goals up. The goal ended a run of five games without a goal for the lanky forward who last found the back of the net on the 23 of November in a 2-2 draw against Excel Mouscron.
Signed in the summer from Danish side Midtjylland, the goal was his sixth of the season from 13 games but overall he has seven goals this season as he has one in the cup. He is no doubt finding his feet in Belgium.
While he is flourishing at the club same can’t be said about Stephen Odey who has been reduced to the role of a substitute but in the win over Waasland-Beveren he was an unused substitute.
Already he is a senior international for Nigeria and played for the team in their run to lifting the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but since then he has dropped down the pecking order with Victor Osimhen now the first choice forward following the international retirement of Odion Ighalo.
