France based sports journalist Michael Jonathan says Monaco forward Henry Onyekuru is not one who is ready to fight for a spot as he likes it easy all the time and that was partly why he failed at Monaco.
Onyekuru will in the coming days complete a loan move back to Galatasaray in Turkey where he was instrumental in helping the team to the league title last season while on loan from Everton. His time there convinced Monaco to sign him permanently in the summer.
His time at Monaco has been one he will love to forget in a hurry as he only made 4 appearance and failed to find the back of the net although largely due to the fact that he was sparingly used by coach Leonardo Jardim.
Jardim has been replaced by Roberto Moreno and according to Jonathan many were of the opinion that the expected change in formation from the new coach could see Onyekuru get more game time but the 22 year old appears to have made up his mind on leaving the club.
” You really want to believe he is talented but he doesn’t work hard enough. Looks like someone who likes it easy and that partly explain why he is heading back to Turkey where he is guarantee to get games base on what he did last season instead fighting at Monaco”, Jonathan said.
” Most players are pushing to leave Turkey for France but he is going the opposite direction. The fact that Monaco didn’t give Galatasaray the option of signing him permanently shows they still rate him and hopefully he will come good”.
