20 year old former Nigeria U20 and 23 midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has snubbed advances from England for him to dump Nigeria and pledge allegiance to them, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Dele-Bashiru represented England at U16 level in 2014 but two years later he played for Nigeria at the U20 World Youth Championship before making the step up to the U23 where he took part in their failed attempt to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

England got in touch with the midfielder after his impressive showing for Watford against Tranmere in the FA Cup where he scored a goal in a thrilling game that ended 3-3. Dele-Bashiru was however not interested in talks of accepting an invitation to play for England.

Since joining Watford he has trained regularly with the first team as opposed to when he was at Manchester City and severally he has made the bench in the English Premier League where he is expected to get his debut soon.

For now he is fully committed to Nigeria where he hope to make the step up to the senior team after progressing from the U20 to the U23. His chance will no doubt be bright if he becomes a mainstay of the first team of Watford.
