The agent of Odion Ighalo who made history as the first Nigerian to sign for Manchester United has revealed how the transfer happened on transfer deadline day which was Friday.

Atta Aneke who was instrumental in the transfer of the 30 year old from his Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua to Manchester United said at a point he told the deal wasn’t going to happen.

According to Aneke, Manchester United director Ed Woodward spoke with him on Thursday but he didn’t hear from him until that Friday when the deal happened and the delay made him to believe that the deal is dead.

” It’s been hectic, Aneke said in an interview picked up by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team from the Norwegian media. “I talked to Manchester United’s top boss Ed Woodward for a few days in advance. It was quiet on Thursday and then I got the impression that nothing would happen.

” Suddenly, in the middle of the day on Friday, things started to move. It was clear then at 11,o’clock in the evening in Shanghai. It was hectic phone business. Everyone had to stay awake until five or six in the morning in Shanghai”, he explained.
