Nigeria international defender Kenneth Omeruo showed his calmness in front of goal for Leganes to net his first goal for the club and also in the league to power them to a 2-1 win against Real Sociedad.
Omeruo started in defence alongside his Nigeria national team defender Chidozie Awaziem and they both couldn’t stop their team from conceding the first goal as their defensive woes continue.
Five minutes after the restart, Omeruo stayed up the pitch from a cross and with the ball loosed in the area he rolled the ball into the net with a calm finish which is nothing close to a player scoring his first league goal.
Substitutes Oscar Rodriguez scored with what was the final touch of the game with a well struck free kick to earn his team their fourth win of the season but it was the goal by Omeruo that gave them a lifeline.
Signed by Leganes on a permanent transfer in the summer after impressing while on loan from Chelsea, this season he has not had the same impact like he did last season although he has kept his spot in the team with 15 appearances this season.
18th placed Leganes are battling to stay in the Spanish top flight and they will be hoping the goal scored by their Nigerian import help him rediscover the form that made him a firm fan favorite last season.
