Former captain of the Nigeria U20 team Ikouwem Utin has joined fellow Israeli top division side Hapoel Hadera from Maccabi Haifa, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
The 20 year old joined the team in search of regular football as he has found it hard to break into the team of Maccabi Haifa following his loan move to the Israeli giants in the summer from Nigeria League champions Enyimba.
Injuries coupled with his inability to displace the first choice left back at the club means he has so far played just four games this season in all competitions, something he will be hoping to change with his move to Hapoel Hadera.
At his new club he will swell the number of Nigerian players at the club to two as the club currently have former Super Eagles goalkeeper Austin Ejide as their first choice goalkeeper and he will no doubt help Utin settle quickly in his new surrounding.
Still highly rated in Nigeria judging by his performance for Enyimba, he was part of the U20 team of Nigeria that failed to go beyond the round of 16 at the 2019 World Youth Championship which took place in Poland.
