Maduka Okoye is set for a fresh deal at Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf following his promotion to the first team as second choice goalkeeper, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Okoye has picked up a new jersey number 12 befitting of his new role as the second choice of the team. He hasn’t played a game for the second team of Fortuna Dusseldorf the past one month.
It appears he did enough to impress the coaches of the team during the winter camp the team had and in Bundesliga games against Borussia Monchengladbach, SC Freiburg and Hertha Berlin respectively he made the bench.
His current deal is set to run out in the summer of 2020 but with his recent rise to the first team he looks certain to extend his stay with rumours of a new year three year deal with the option of another year on the cards.
The goalkeeper is presently the third choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria although coach Gernot Rohr believe he has what it takes to be second choice behind Francis Uzoho.
