Following the capture of Dutch-Nigerian right back Kingsley Ehizibue coach Gernot Rohr of the senior national team of Nigeria has switched his attention to the area of left full back where he presently has Jamilu Collins as ‎first choice.

The coach has resorted to playing Ola Aina of Torino in the role as well as back up to the Paderborn defender but in the coming days all of that could change as he is heavily scouting Santa Clara left full back Zaidu Sanusi.

Rohr believe that Aina will push Ehizibue for the right back slot hence the need to get another option at left back to challenge Collins with Bryan Idowu no longer in consideration since the debut of Collins after the 2018 World Cup.

Sanusi who worked his way up to the top in Portugal hasn’t disappointed in his first season at Santa Clara in the top division with 14 league games under his belt and three man of the match award. He made the team of the week two weeks before the suspension of games due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Rohr is aware of his rise and has hinted to close associates that the 22 years old will get his chance soon with the team if he maintains his performance. He is among the players the coach is planning on handing a chance in the friendly games lined up for the team before the start of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
