With football around the world largely on break, footballers and fans alike have been prowling on the internet to relive past moments and ease off boredom.

Super Eagles and Everton forward, Alex Iwobi in an Instagram session listed his favourite XI. Here is a rundown of Iwobi’s choice:

GOALKEEPER: Jordan Pickford. Jordan is England’s and Everton’s first choice goalkeeper. Iwobi wasted no time to name him in goal.

RIGHTBACK: Ola Aina. The Torino defender and Iwobi have been pals right from their days together in London. Aina is also Iwobi’s international team mate. Aina could play as either right back or left back or as a wing back on either positions.

CENTRE BACK: Mason Holgate. The 23 year old Doncaster-born English player plies his trade with Alex at Everton. He is a tough-tackling CB who stand at 1.84 in metres.

CENTRE BACK 2: Semi Ajay. The choice of a second CB was difficult for Alex, as he reluctantly went for the West Bromich Albion’s defender. Iwobi said “It would be between Semi Ajayi and William Troost…phew.. this is difficult. Maybe you can put Semi Ajayi in there. Alex Iwobi paired Holgate and Ajayi at the back.

LEFT BACK: Lucas Digne. The 26-year old Frenchman holds down the same position for Everton since joining the Toffees from Barcelona for 13 million pounds.

Moving to the midfield department, Iwobi stated that Ndidi, Etebo, Tom Davies, Andre Gomes are remarkable players and it would be difficult to make a choice. He did anyways.

MIDFIELD: Wilfred Ndidi. On the Leceister midfield work-horse, Iwobi said “I like playing with Ndidi because mehn! That guy is like two extra pairs on the pitch. I would put Ndidi there”

MIDFIELD: Tom Davies made the list is the other midfielder. Iwobi said he like playing with the England international, as he is easy to spot on the pitch.

Left Wing: Samuel Kalu. The Bordeaux winger plays with Iwobi on the international scene. The 22-year old has represented Nigeria 13 times and has two goals to his credit.

Right Wing: Samuel Chukwueze. Iwobi spoke of the Villareal whizkid in glowing terms. He exclaimed “Wooo! Young talent man! Left foot! Chukwueze!” Iwobi went on to say “there was one game he beats six men but I think he missed (a goal) but beating six men is crazy, dropped them on their bar, cold! I call him the Nigerian Robben”

Iwobi at this point, remembered he had left out Joe Aribo in his midfield and had to revisit his selection.

“Man I missed Joe Aribo. Whooop Cold!! As number 10, I would put Joe Aribo. He came into the National Team and made a huge statement”.

STRIKERS: Spoilt for choice, the ex-Arsenal man exhaled, :Ahh! There is Richarlison, Moise Kean and Victor Osimhen.

Striker 1: Victor Osimhen. Alex said “He is right there, he has better goal numbers than all”

At this point, Iwobi remembered Manchester United hitman, Odion Ighalo and he wasted no time in slotting in the AFCON 2019 highest goal scorer in the 4-4-2 formation.
