The chances of Oghenekaro Etebo and Lukman Zakari securing permanent deals at Getafe and Real Betis respectively has been hit hard by the effect of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Both players move to Spain during the course of the season on loan deals with Etebo joining Getafe from Stoke City on loan in January while Zakari joined the B team of Real Betis in the summer from Latvian side FS Metta.
There are clauses in their loan deals empowering their temporary owners the power to sign them permanently at the end of their loan spell. But for now that looks highly unlikely judging by the fact that football in the various countries has been suspended.
The suspension means they have lost out on a chance to cement their spot in their loan teams and it could impact of their chances of signing a permanent deal in the summer. Although the loan deals could be extended due to the pandemic.
Etebo has made six appearances for Getafe since his January transfer window move while Zakari who joined in the summer is yet to taste action at Real Betis B after an error in his work permit application cost him the first half of the season.
