Villarreal and Super Eagles wing forward Samuel Chukwueze says his dream is to one day partner his teammate at U17, U20 and U23 level for Nigeria Kelechi Nwakali in the senior national team of Nigeria.
Chukwueze has established himself in the squad of the Super Eagles but same can’t be said about Nwakali who trained with the Eagles in 2018 but a not too good time at club level means he has been out of the team.
While in an instagram live interview, Chukwueze was asked about the player he want to play with in the Super Eagles who is not yet in the team, he didn’t mince word in mentioning Nwakali ” Kelechi Nwakali, he is so good”, he said.
Last year after a qualifiers game for the U23 team of Nigeria, Chukwueze said his near perfect understanding with Nwakali means he could play with the midfielder with his eyes closed as they both know when to pick each other out with a pass or otherwise.
” It’s easy to play with a midfielder like Nwakali. All one need to do is to make the runs and he will find you. I can play with him with my eyes closed. We both know when to dribble, pass or make runs when we play together from U17 up to now that we are in the U23″, Chukwueze said in 2019.
His dream of partnering Nwakali could yet become a reality in the future particularly if Nwakali makes his mark at Spanish second division side Huesca when football returns following the suspension of games due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Registration, visa and work permit issues have so far hindered him from making an appearance for Huesca since his move to the team in the summer from Arsenal. He is however hopeful of getting a chance with the team soon.
