The coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says he is willing to take a pay cut in order to continue in his role with the Super Eagles after receiving the details of a new deal to continue as coach of the Nigeria national team.

Rohr’s present deal with the NFF will expire in July but he has made it known long ago that his priority is to continue as coach of the team despite offers from elsewhere over his services.

The Franco-German coach who presently earns around $55,000 as monthly salary as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria said in light of the coronavirus crisis it’s only normal for him to accept a pay cut as some things are more important than money.

“Yes and that’s normal “, he answered when asked if he will accept a pay cut to continue in his role as coach of the Super Eagles in an interview with Girondins4ever.com sourced by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.

Speaking further he explained his decision to accept a pay cut as one that is a necessity base on the dwindling fortunes of businesses, sponsors and also government who are all active in the football system in Nigeria.

” The football economy is at a standstill, the market is suffering. The revenue and the sponsors are lacking so it is normal that players and the coaches also make efforts to support the system “, he concluded.

This statement is no doubt connected to the terms of his new deal as said by the president of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Amaju Pinnick who said the salary of the coach will be slashed to conform with the global reality of the financial state of most organizations due to the coronavirus crisis.
