18 year old Bayern Munich forward Joshua Orobosa Zirkzee is causing the Dutch FA some concerns with Nigeria already in contact with the representatives of the forward, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Zirkzee plays for the youth team of the Netherlands with eight goals in nine caps but he is still eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level and some form of contact has been established with the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr.
Rohr reportedly met with the player and his agent after watching him score once for Bayern Munich in their 6-0 win over Hoffenheim to take his goal tally to three goals in five games in the German Bundesliga.
The meeting has sparked a reaction from the Dutch FA and they held a meeting with the forward and his agent where he was assured that his future with the Dutch national team is secured hence he should snub advances from Nigeria.
For now Zirkzee will continue to represent the Netherlands but he will make a decision on his international future at the end of the season which has been shutdown by the coronavirus crisis.
