Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has for the first time spoken out on the controversy surrounding his age following reports that he is way older than the age he is claiming at the moment.
The goalkeeper who was third choice goalkeeper for Nigeria at the 2013 Under-17 World Cup was a guest on an instagram live interview on the official page of the senior national team of Nigeria.
Responding to messages on his age, the goalkeeper who is still recuperating from the injury that brought his loan spell to a premature end at Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia said most people doubting his age are doing so out of ignorance.
He went ahead to explain that his physical growth has been quite remarkable from when he first represented Nigeria at the U17 World Youth Championship to now. He said at a point Dele Alampasu who was first choice ahead of him at the 2013 cadet championship was even taller than him.
The player who passed the mandatory age test conducted by FIFA at the U17 World Youth Championship using the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Machine (MRI) had the best result among Nigerian players at the tournament. A proof that all that is said about him falsifying his age is false.
On his club career, the 22 year old said he will return to Deportivo La Coruna at the end of his loan spell with Omonia Nicosia. Talks on his future at the club will be held when he return but for now he said he is focused on making a full recovery from the injury he picked that is expected to heal in two months time.
He was given a period of eight months to recover from the injury he picked while on international duty for Nigeria against Ukraine in an international friendly which ended in a 2-2 draw. Six out of the eight months has so far gone smoothly he however lamented the fact that he had to wait for a month before he was operated due to flight issues.
