
The back up goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Maduka Okoye has confirmed the signing of a new deal at German Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf with his current deal set to run out in the summer.
Okoye’s deal at the club was winding to a close this summer but after making the step up to the first team where he has made the bench four times this season, the 20 year old who also made his debut for Nigeria this year appears to have earn an extension to his deal.
Speaking during the course of an interview on Instagram, the goalkeeper revealed that plans are underway for him to move to the Dutch Eredivisie next season on loan in order for him to gain experience of playing in a top flight league.
He has played all of his career in the fourth division of Germany for the B team of Fortuna Dusseldorf but all that will likely change next season if all works according to what the player said.
“Playing for the Super Eagles as been a good step for my career, my club are arranging for me to go on loan to a club in the Netherlands Eredivisie next season to get premiership experience”, he said.
