Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun has given his opinion on the present team of the senior national team of Nigeria and how they were shaped by former coach of the team Sunday Oliseh.

Oliseh was coach of the senior national team of Nigeria but left his job in controversial circumstances after a disagreement with the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) over terms of his contract.

Samson Siasia replaced him as interim coach before Gernot Rohr who has been at the helm since 2016 was appointed as substantive coach of the team. Since then the Franco-German has been active in bringing in players for the good of the team.

Speaking on how the foundation was laid for the team that is slowly turning into a force to be reckoned with in Africa once again, Balogun said it was Oliseh who started the process of rebuilding the team as he brought in most of the players in the team presently.

“The team after the World Cup was in flux with a lot of changes. Oliseh brought in Iwobi, , Simon, players who are regulars now. He laid the foundation for this current Super Eagles. We have been told that we are the best ever, but there is also the Olympic team etc. This group gets along well with no wahala at all in camp”.
