21 year old Bordeaux forward Josh Maja says his international career with Nigeria is far from over despite not getting called up since his debut for Nigeria against Ukraine in an international friendly which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Maja was a late substitute in that game playing just a minute in what was his first game for Nigeria after agreeing to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria. His switch was without any hitch as he hasn’t played for England at any level.
The forward who wasn’t in the squad for the next friendly game against Brazil and also the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers games against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively believe he has what it takes to push for a spot in the team.
Before the suspension of games due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the forward who has eight goals and three assists from 24 games this season wasn’t listed for the botched game against Sierra Leone.
Despite the omission he still confident about his future with the senior national team of Nigeria. ” The coach already told me his plans for the team. So I am not bothered. There are other strikers in the team before me and they are doing well”, he said.
” My aim is to play regularly for my team and when I am giving the chance to play for Nigeria, hopefully I will grab it and make an impression because I believe I have what it takes to play for the senior national team of Nigeria “, he concluded.
