Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has left the door open for Chidera Ejuke to be a part of the senior national team of Nigeria after impressing for Heerenveen in his first season in the Netherlands.

The coach who said it will be hard to call up new players to the team when football resumes is willing to bend the rule to accommodate the 22 year old who has been linked with a move to a more illustrious team in the summer.

Reacting to a piece on owngoalnigeria.com about the chances of the wing forward getting his chance in the Super Eagles, a close source to the coach revealed that Ejuke is one player the coach will gladly accept in his squad when football resumes.

” For Ejuke it’s a done deal. He only need to maintain his consistency when the season resumes. Rohr is a big fan of the way he plays particularly his calmness in front of goal. The last time he spoke on him he said there’s always a spot for good players, so Ejuke is certainly viewed as one by the coach”, he concluded.

Before the cancellation of the Dutch Eredivisie due to the coronavirus crisis, Ejuke has ‎scored ten goals in all competitions with a further six assists to his name from a total of 29 games. He ended the season with the honor of completing more dribbles than any player in the division.
