Former Super Eagles utility man Garba Lawal says Victor Osimhen will do well by spending another season at French Ligue 1 side Lille instead of pushing for a transfer after a very successful first season at the club.
Osimhen finished the season with 18 goals in all competitions and as expected they have been interest from teams in Europe with rumors of a bid of around £75m lodged for him by one of the teams interested in his services.
Most of the interest in his service has come from England and according to several reports the 21 year old is yet to communicate to Lille if he will be willing to listen to any of the offers or otherwise but Lawal has urged him to stay one more year in France.
” You know some players move and their career didn’t take off as expected. He can go there and be a hit but presently he isn’t better than any of the players at the clubs he has been linked with like Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United “, Lawal told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
” What he needs now is a team where he will get games and develop further. Going to any of the teams mentioned above could be counter productive, so I will advice him to remain in France with Lille for at least another season before a move to England “, Lawal concluded.
