
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has picked one German-Nigerian player among the numerous he has on his list of players he want to switch allegiance to Nigeria as be believe he will add what the team presently lacks, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Rohr has penciled down three players namely Kevin Akpoguma, Jordan Torunarigha and Felix Uduokhai for talks over a switch of allegiance but sources close to the coach reveal that he has reduced it to just one player.
The coach has long be searching for a left footed centre defender and with the obvious difficult in getting Jordan Torunarigha he has now settled for Felix Uduokhai who has been impressive for Augsburg where he is on loan form Wolfsburg.
Like Torunarigha, he is also left footed and Rohr believes he will add something different to the team as they presently can’t boast of any left footed player in defence.
22 year old Uduokhai further convinced Rohr in the games of the Bundesliga since the return of football. Rohr’s interest in Augsburg is on Joel Noah Sarenren-Bazee but the performance of Uduokhai has gotten to the Franco-German coach.
The idea is to meet with Uduokhai later this year for another round of talks where Rohr will be hoping for a better outcome than last time out when he reportedly shunned a chance to be a part of the squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
