One-time capped Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has expressed confidence in his abilities to become the first choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the near future.
The 20 year old goalkeeper is facing is faced with the herculean task of battling for first choice alongside in-form Chiefs keeper Daniel Akpeyi, home boy Ikechukwu Ezenwa and also the returning Francis Uzoho.
Maduka said “I’m very confident I can be the first choice for Nigeria even though the team has very goof goalkeepers. First of all I have to be number one in a first league.
“I have to get my first place in the next month somewhere, a lot of playing time in a higher level, in a higher league, then I will fight for my spot. Alloy Agu (GK trainer) will choose and the best person will play”, he said.
Speaking on the quality in the team, the German-born player said everybody there is a high class goalkeeper. I can learn from everyone and they can learn from me too. It’s a nice team and we are brothers.
The Fortuna-born goalkeeper is on the verge of securing a move to the Eredivisie as Rotterdam are closing in on a deal to secure the signature of the Nigerian.
